Words that Bite

Words that Bite
Putting Meaning in your Achievement

I had the privilege of officiating a friend’s wedding a few days ago in Maui [shown here, shedding a tear].  He was actually my first client at The Performance Group. A bit of a fairy tale wedding:  met in Law School, married in Maui, and a slew of very successful/attractive friends in attendance from the mainland.

But something happened that was interesting after I delivered the message at the ceremony:  many commented on what was said, and many were between 27 and 35 years old.  One point I made was that “unless a couple believed in something much greater than themselves, they were unlikely to be successful long-term.”  Those are strong words – words that bite.

Because here is the reality: when the storms come in marriage, business or life – it’s not a tactic or strategy or process that will get you to the other side.  It is a belief.  It is a set of ideas that create ideals that mandate we get to the other side regardless of what we feel or what our ego demands.

That’s powerful stuff – that’s what it means to put “meaning” into something significant.

Going forward, we are going to examine how to put meaning into the things we want to protect or achieve.   And I’d love to hear your feedback.
